The Everyman in association with CADA Performing Arts are currently casting for principal roles in this year’s pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

The principal roles for our 2026 pantomime are Jack, Jill, and Baron de Rude and his sidekick Chad G. Peaty. Please see below for full character outlines.

If you would like to be considered for a role, please submit a one-page CV including headshot plus a self-tape performing a song a capella by Wednesday 22 July at 5pm to ineke@everymancork.com:

• Please state your name and introduce which song you are singing
• Please state if you are from/based in Cork or not
• Self-tapes should be 1 – 3 minutes max
• Self-tapes should be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo or similar online platform with your name as the title of the video
• Please include a link to the video as part of your submission email
• You must be over 18 years of age to audition
• You must have experience in acting, singing, comedy or musical theatre
• You must have a strong voice, good vocal range, an ability to sing harmony
• You must have experience in dance

Performers will be shortlisted to audition based on your submitted self-tapes. In-person auditions will take place the week of the Monday 27 July and will entail the following:

• Performing 2 contrasting songs, a verse and chorus of each
• Showcasing 1 minute of a dance
• Stating the character for which you are auditioning and presenting a monologue on how that character interacts with the audience

Full-time rehearsals will take place in Cork. Priority will be given to actors from or that have a base in Cork, but we will consider all options. This is a full-time, paid position with The Everyman.

The production schedule is as follows (subject to change):

• Rehearsals  w/c Monday 2 November
• Technical Rehearsals w/c Monday 23 November
• Performances  Thursday 3 December – Sunday 10 January
• Performances will include weekday matinees for schools and weekend performances

Character Outlines

Jack is a kind-hearted innocent dreamer who longs to become the world’s greatest magician. His mum, Peggy Twomey, means the world to him, even if he doesn’t always make life easy for her. Jill is his best friend and he’s secretly got a huge crush on her. He adores his beloved cow, Moo, and would do anything to protect them. Jack isn’t your typical hero — he’s clumsy, easily distracted, and always finding himself in a tricky situation. He sees the best in everyone, sometimes trusting people that he really shouldn’t. He loves magic and is always trying his magic tricks and getting them wrong, but he truly believes in magic. Jack discovers that true bravery comes from being yourself. Jack’s adventures prove that even the most unlikely hero can save the day.

Jill is fearless, feisty, and never backs down from a challenge. She’s strong-willed and always stands up for what’s right, she is not a wilting flower. When Jack needs a push in the right direction, she’s there doing the pushing. Kind-hearted and loyal, she’ll do anything to help her family and friends. She has endless confidence, even if her jokes are absolutely terrible — and she insists on telling them anyway.

Baron de Rude (Villain) believes he is the most intelligent, sophisticated, and important person in all of Corkonia — and never misses an opportunity to remind everyone. A land-hungry tyrant, he’s determined to own every inch of Corkonia, no matter who gets in his way. His razor-sharp sarcasm and cutting wit leave his long-suffering sidekick Chad G. Peaty on the receiving end of constant insults and impossible tasks. When he discovers that Moo the Cow can talk, he becomes obsessed with capturing them for his bizarre collection of talking animals.

Chad G. Peaty is Baron de Rude’s long-suffering sidekick, forever being ordered about and blamed when things go wrong. Although he tries his best to impress the Baron, he somehow always gets it spectacularly wrong. Deep down, Chad has a kind heart and secretly wishes he could be one of the good guys. He’s hopelessly caught between doing what he’s told and doing what he knows is right.
