A Matter of Time by TeaTime Company as part of Pitch’d Circus & Street Arts Festival

FRI 9–SAT 10 SEP 2022
Live at The Firkin Crane

Pitch’d Circus & Street Arts Festival invites you to see a unique show A Matter of Time BY TeaTime Company at The Firkin Crane.

Three performers disobey the laws of nature as they challenge each other to break gravity, bend time and reach the impossible. Newton, eat your heart out.

‘A Matter of Time’, sees them balancing on the thin line between success and failure. How far can you bend the rules before they break?

A performance that moves between circus and dance, juggling and movement, bodies and juggling balls, the possible and the impossible. You throw a ball, automatically your hand reaches out to catch it. In the time that elapses between those moments, however, lies a world of possibilities.

In ‘A Matter of Time’ this simple act (and the time in between) is played with in a surprisingly complex way.

‘A Matter of Time’ shows an interplay that is both physically and mentally challenging and visually intriguing.

TeaTime Company is the collaboration between performers and creators Hannah Rogerson, Pieter Visser and Bavo De Smedt.
The trio studied, in the fields of contemporary dance and circus, at Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg (NL). On discovering their mutual interests and desires they decided to join forces in the creation of their own performing arts company.

“The relationship with students is always a complicated one: just as you get to know them well, you have to say goodbye to them again. This certainly applies to the artists of TeaTime Company, alumni of the Tilburg dance (Hannah Rogerson) and circus academy (Bavo De Smedt and Pieter Visser), who travel to Ireland after their performances in the Nieuwe Vorst and on Festival Circolo. During ‘A Matter of Time’ they show, in futuristic costumes, their juggling skills that merge into a performance that captivates the full hour. They remain tight in their roles all this time, showing impressive work to finally, after the finale, thaw and reach out to their audience. The combination of two art forms, dance and circus, as well as the collaboration between different disciplines at Music Meets Circus is a successful one. If only we could enjoy the talent of these students a little longer in Tilburg. However, the rest of the world is waiting for their talent.” – Cedric Stalpers, CircusWeb
