Dominic MacHale is from Blackrock in Cork. He graduated from University College Cork in 2010 with a first-class honours BSc in Microbiology. During his collegiate tenure, he joined the drama society and acted in over a dozen shows in the Granary Theatre including the ISDA-nominated Trainspotting, Dogg’s Hamlet, How to Get Rid of It, Dangerous Liaisons, Such a Local Row, Julius Caesar and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Since graduating, Dominic has acted in numerous professional productions nationally including The Improvised Panto (Half Moon), Little Red Riding Hood (The Everyman), The Good Doctor (Cork Arts Theatre), Debris (Belltable, Limerick), The Owl and The Pussycat (Cork Arts Theatre), The Improvised Murder Mystery (Cork Arts Theatre), Juno and the Paycock (The Everyman), Where in the World Is Frank Sparrow? (Graffiti Theatre), The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart (The Everyman), Enter Juliet (BrokenCrow), and A Sacrifice at Easter (Corcadorca). Dominic has toured nationally with Cú Chulainn (Chlann Cluana) and The Irish Canon Abridged (ITSA Theatre Company) and internationally to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with Lipstick (Roundhouse Theatre Company).
Dominic recently played the lead role of Michael Collins in Pat Talbot’s critically-acclaimed A Great Arrangement, which toured to The Everyman in Cork, the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin, and the Metropolitan Arts Centre in Belfast.
Dominic is a founding member of CCCahoots comedy group. He has worked extensively with them over the past number of years, devising and performing both live shows and several projects for RTÉ including (R)onanism, Comedy Bites, Sketch, and The Republic of Telly. He recently starred as Principal English in The School for RTÉ, and hosts a radio show and podcast series called CCChattitude, commissioned by Red FM in association with CCCahoots.
In 2016, he appeared in his first feature film, playing the role of Sergeant Tony Healy in Peter Foott’s international award-winning comedy The Young Offenders. He reprises the role in the spin off series commissioned by BBC/RTÉ.
