John Sharpson

Dublin native John Sharpson (or ‘Múinteoir John’ as he is affectionately known by the children of Ireland!) is no stranger to the stage. He has had roles in pantomimes both on and off screen, up and down the country, including the RTÉjr Panto Once Upon a Time in Fairyland and the RTÉ2 production of The Greatest Show to Never Happen, as well as performing in the Wexford Opera House, the INEC arena in Killarney and the University Concert Hall in Limerick.

John was busy during the pandemic as his teaching qualifications were called upon when he assumed the role of ‘Múinteoir John’ in RTÉ’s Home School Hub. He’s very proud to have been a part of the show and is equally delighted that the children of Ireland can go back to their classrooms to see their friends.

As an impressionist and voice-over actor, John can be heard on TG4 cartoons, including Adventure Time, Spongebob Square Pants, Scooby Doo and Dot.

John is absolutely delighted to be taking on the role of ‘Genie Mac’ in Cork as the last time he was down here it was for RTÉ show Special Forces: Hell Week. My goodness he could have used three wishes then! He hopes that this wonderful production of Aladdin will be a lot more fun and a lot less cold! He’s looking forward to it immensely!
