Catherine Mahon-Buckley

DIRECTOR

Catherine Mahon-Buckley is a producer, director, performer, teacher and lecturer. She has produced and directed 28 Pantos for The Everyman and CADA and she is very honoured to say she has never repeated a script during that time.

Her career spans musicals, drama, film, acting and teaching of all aspects of the performing arts. This year, after a 15-year break from acting, she performed in Sisters, directed by Pat Talbot, which played to standing ovations.

Catherine is very involved in education. She is Artistic Director of CADA Performing Arts, on the executive board of Cork International Choral Festival, a member of Actors’ Equity Association, Drama League of Ireland and the Irish Film & Television Academy.

As Artistic Director of CADA Performing Arts, Catherine has created a progressive centre of excellence in acting, dance, musical theatre, singing, communication and music for Junior and Leaving Certificate.  CADA Performing Arts has produced many great performers and businesspeople of today.  Recently, Catherine received the National Award for Inspiring Women in the Arts.

Christmas has many traditions and Panto is one of them. Catherine is delighted to work with so many creative and inspiring people to create and produce our wonderful tale as old as time, Beauty and the Beast.

In January 2024, Catherine will direct the film Hegartys of the Laurels, an exciting project focusing on a family living in the outskirts of Cork City and their involvement in the revolution in 1920.
