Cú Chulainn

The Everyman and Cork Opera House are proud to present a concert performance of Cú Chulainn, a new opera by Éadaoin O’Donoghue and John O’Brien.

Cú Chulainn is a sequel to the five-star 2022 opera Morrígan which was widely praised by critics: “a legend brought brazenly to triumphant life” The Irish Times; “remarkable” Opera Magazine; “enthralls from first scene to last” The Irish Examiner.

Commissioned by The Everyman, and based on the characters of the Táin, this new work explores the great and tragic story between Cú Chulainn and Ferdia, the intricacies of Queen Medb’s court, and the demise of Conor Mac Nessa.

Cú Chulainn will star Niamh O’Sullivan, Rory Dunne, Gavan Ring, Ronald Samm, Paul Nilon, Rachel Croash, Brendan Collins, Gráinne Gillis, Viktor Priebe, Liv Victa and Chorus, with the Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra, conducted by John O’Brien.

This concert presentation is a culmination of a development process funded by an Arts Council opera project award.
