Jaimie Carswell

Jaimie Carswell is an actor, musician and clown. He is the director of the Irish National Clown Orchestra of Ireland and the creator of the multi award-winning clown show Cirque de Legume, a vegetable circus that ran off-Broadway and toured extensively.

His clown shows include the Spalpeen Bonaparts, The Cabaret Oublié, and tinylife. A graduate of the Lecoq school Jaimie has worked with Jos Houben, John Wright, Aitor Basauri, Julie Goell, Pablo Ibarluzea, Carlo Jacuzzi and Clive Mendes of Complicité. Jaimie also works as an actor most recently with Cahoots NI (UK), Monkeyshine (Ire), Red Kettle (Ire), Dramatise (Fr) and The Young Vic (UK), as well as film and TV.

As a musician Jaimie plays bass with many bands including Irish trad fusion band The Craic Addicts, American soul artist Mirenda Rosenberg, and jazz ensemble The Kobe Trio.

Jaimie is a freelance director, workshop facilitator and teacher and worked for years with the Performing Arts School Galway. He has been the Artist-in-Residence at two American universities, Kansas University (2008) and the University of North Carolina (2013). He won the 2012 Judges Award at the New York First Irish Theatre Festival and the New York Times called him a “consummate physical comedian”. Jaimie lives on top of a mountain in Sligo.
