William spent many years acting, directing, producing and touring in independent theatre. His first professional production, Oscar & Jim was at the much-missed Andrew’s Lane Theatre. He previously worked with Pat Moylan and Breda Cashe in their hugely successful production of 12 Angry Men and a one-man show The Agony and Ecstasy of Steve Jobs. Other stage highlights include Auntie & Me, Wilde about America, The Blue Light, Jack Straw and Educating Rita. Most recently, he made his pantomime debut as Maurice in Beauty and the Beast at the National Stadium.
A grand finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards and Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny!?, William created and staged his own multi-character standup show, The Billy Dufus Show.
Television and film credits include Fair City, Red Rock, a multi-award-winning TV comedy pilot Double Denim; Governing Europe; Themselves Become the Sea; Sonny, Mammy and Patch the Dog, for which he won three Best Actor awards, and SKINS, winner of the Nika McGuigan FNI Fast Fest Award. Irish feature film work includes Dublin Crust (Best Supporting Actor, Dublin International Comedy Film Festival); Suit Hung, Tied Tongue; Reputation and Swing Bout.
A regular performer with Newscheck Comedy and winner of Best Comedy Sketch at the DICFF, William is also a recipient of the Screen Ireland Actor as Creator initiative and is currently developing an adaptation of his award-winning short film Abducted?
