Conor Hanratty is a theatre and opera director from Dublin. He trained with Rough Magic’s SEEDS programme, at UCLA, and spent two years in Tokyo studying with the director Ninagawa Yukio.
Recent productions include Die Fledermaus (Florida Grand Opera); The Critic, L’Italiana in Algeri, The Master and I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Wexford Festival Opera); Na Peirsigh | The Persians (Abbey Theatre); Master lass (Once Off Productions); Carmen (Opera San Antonio); Trouble in Tahiti (Glimmerglass); Maria de Buenos Aires, La Traviata, Cosi Fan Tutte and La Bohème (Cork Opera House). Last summer, he performed the role of Oscar Wilde in In Extremis at Bewley’s Café Theatre. For Classics Now, he has created programmes based on Eurydice and Orpheus (2023) and Dido’s Lament (2026), the latter of which he performed with Sharon Carty.
As an associate/revival director, his credits include the Broadway musical Once (Seoul), Madama Butterfly (Opera San Antonio) and Silent Night (Wexford, Austin, Salt Lake City, Miami and Fort Lauderdale).
He is the co-founder of Ulysses Opera Theatre, and is a board member of The Everyman.
