George Hanover

George is an awarded actor and has been a member of BrokenCrow Theatre Company since its inception. She is currently developing two pieces for young audiences: Little Seed, Tall Tree and ERIK, an ambitious suite of work anticipated to be an illustrated book, an animation and a live event.

George is also an Early Years artist and director of BEAG, the first Early Years Arts programme of its kind in Ireland hosted by Graffiti Theatre with partners HSE, Cork City & County Arts Offices.

George trains with Tom Kibbe in Techniques in Modern Realist Acting.

Theatre credits include Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz (dir. Wayne Jordan); Ida in Levin and Levin by BrokenCrow (premiered at The Everyman, Dublin Fringe Festival); Dark Kingdom, a selection of short stories by Kevin Barry adapted for BrokenCrow (Cork Midsummer Festival); Neon Western by Conflicted Theatre and Peter Power (Cork Midsummer Festival, Dublin Fringe Festival)

Film and television credits include Penny Dreadful; Fair City; Fiona in independent award-winning shorts Heart, Partly Cloudy (Best Actress) and The Handsome Shadows; title role in The Beauty of Ballybrack (Best Actress); lead role of Meg Daly in her debut feature The Randomer, winning Best Actress at Toronto International Independent Film and Screenplay Festival; Where Have You Been in which George plays the lead female role of Clara; psychiatrist Lorraine Butler (Best Actress) in Shaun O’Connor’s multi-awarding winning short film Disappear; the supporting role of Ellen in Niall Owens’s new feature film Gateway; Grainne in Shaun O’Connor’s IFB funded short film Mary and  the lead role of Victoria in Enrique Carnicero’s short Shot-Hit-Spank.
