Irene Kelleher

Irene Kelleher is a Cork born playwright and performer. Her first play, Mary and Me, published by Oberon, toured nationally and internationally and is also an RTÉ-produced radio play. Gone Full Havisham, Irene’s second play, enjoyed a sell-out run in the Cork Midsummer Festival 2019 and a critically acclaimed run in the Gilded Balloon at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2019 and in Bewleys Theatre in January 2020.

Irene holds a degree and Masters in Drama and Theatre Studies at University College Cork. She went on to further training at Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, Massachusetts.

Select Theatre and Film credits include: Maria in Stars in the Morning Sky (Belgrade Theatre), Katie Holly’s Sharon (Cork Midsummer Festival & Bewley’s Theatre, Dublin), Mrs Shakespeare by Ian Wild (Cherry Lane Theatre-NYC & Argus Angel Winner), The Turn of the Screw (Smock Alley and The Everyman), Kitty Kiernan in Pat Talbot’s A Great Arrangement (Gaiety, The Everyman, Mac Theatre & tour), the role of Orlaith in the Irish Premiere of Ailis Ni Rian’s play Desolate Heaven and Joanna in The Other Lamb, (Dir. Malgo Szumowska). Mary and Me had its US Premiere October 2020 in the Players Ring, New Hampshire.
