“The best programme I’ve ever been involved in, every aspect of it was amazing. I’ve made friends for life and it improved my outlook on theatre and life in general.” – Summer Participant Feedback

Spring 2022 The Everyman continues our first dedicated engagement programme for young people.

Theatre Making & Citizenship Cork – Spring 2022 is a fun, free and inclusive weekly youth-led programme of workshops on Wednesday afternoons for 15 Young People, aged 15 – 25 years.

Working with YMCA, Cork together with Graffiti Theatre Company and The Abbey, young people are introduced to theatre through conversation, engagement and creation.

Following the huge success of our 2021 workshops, we now invite applications for the Spring Programme of Theatre Making & Citizenship Cork which begins on Wednesday 19th January 2022. See Application & Consent Form HERE.

10 in-person sessions, led by an experienced drama facilitator and supported by a youth worker

Wednesdays 2.00pm – 3.30pm & 2 outings to the theatre

Starts 19th January 2022

The Everyman, McCurtain Street & YMCA Cork, Marlboro Street.

Participants will be supported to become theatre makers themselves – explore writing, devising, designing, technical craft and performance as well as attending theatre shows as guests of The Everyman and other venues!

At the heart of this project is the role of theatre and how young people can shape the future of accessible theatre in Ireland.

Cork City Council Arts Office | Creative Ireland | Cork Education & Training Board

“This project is an amazing opportunity for young people to have fun creating with others, to develop skills in cultural citizenship and theatre-making and to have their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.” Aine O’ Callaghan, YMCA

“It feels like the perfect collaboration to help more young people explore the relevance and power of drama in the life of a healthy society.” Phil Kingston, The Abbey
