The Everyman was proud to present the premiere of The Summer I Robbed a Bank as part of Cork Midsummer Festival.
12-year-old Rex has to spend his summer holidays on Achill Island. He doesn’t quite know what to make of the place with its mad and wacky characters. Little does he know his holiday is about to get a whole lot more exciting: his eccentric Uncle Derm is hatching his most hare-brained plan yet!
A madcap robbery, plenty of sheep and a summer of discoveries are just some of the things in store for Rex. But, with his new friend Kitty and the gang by his side, this might just shape up to be the summer adventure of a lifetime.
David O’Doherty’s award-winning children’s book was brought to life in a colourful, moving and hilarious stage adaptation for ages 7+.
This production was commissioned by The Ark and The Everyman.
