The Everyman is proud to present the premiere of The Summer I Robbed a Bank as part of Cork Midsummer Festival.

12-year-old Rex has to spend his summer holidays on Achill Island and he doesn’t quite know what to make of this mad place and its wacky characters. Little does he know his holiday is about to get a whole lot more exciting: his eccentric Uncle Derm is hatching his most hare-brained plan yet!

A madcap robbery, plenty of sheep and a summer of discoveries are just some of the things in store for Rex. But, with his new friend Kitty and the gang by his side, this might just shape up to be the summer adventure of a lifetime.

David O’Doherty’s award-winning children’s book is brought to life in this colourful, moving and hilarious stage adaptation for ages 7+ written by Mark Doherty and directed by Sophie Motley.

This production was commissioned by The Ark and The Everyman.
