The Everyman continually strives to offer excellence in programming and theatre experience for our patrons. To support this aim, selected performances include a Post-Show Talk, free to performance goers, which take place in the informal setting of The Everyman Bar.
The cast and creative team involved in the show you have just attended will talk about their inspiration and experience. This is a great opportunity to ask your own questions while gaining a deeper insight into the workings of the show. This experience really adds to your theatre night out.
Shows which facilitate a Post-Show Talk are denoted in the events listing with the symbol below.
The Everyman plays a leading role in Cork City in developing and maturing performing artists, locally and nationally, through offering a supportive creative environment because we see artists as the lifeblood of the theatre. There is no “one-size fits all” as every theatre artist is different. In practice, ours is an open and flexible approach which seeks to find specific and tailored means of support to allow them to develop their practice.
Join us at The Everyman as the history of our theatre is brought to life! Our tour guide actors will lead you through the fascinating stories of our beautiful theatre.
The Everyman strives to produce and present engaging, educational and thought-provoking programmes for primary, secondary and third-level students.
Creative Schools is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme to enable the creative potential of every child. Creative Schools is led by the Arts Council in partnership with the Department of Education and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
The initiative is also informed by the Arts Council’s ten-year strategy (2016–25) Making Great Art Work: Leading the Development of the Arts in Ireland.
The Everyman participates in the Arts Council’s Creative Schools initiative since 2019. Through the work of our nominee, Maev O’Shea, we aim to place art at the heart of school life.
We have been matched with four schools to date: St Vincent’s Convent National School, Cork city; Bunscoil na Toirbhirthe, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, St John the Baptist NS, Midleton, Co. Cork and St Vincent’s Convent Secondary School, Cork city. Maev works together with the School Co-Ordinator, pupils, staff, management and whole school community to research, design and execute a Creative School plan with the voice of the child as central to the process.

The Everyman working with YMCA Cork and with the support of the Abbey Theatre, Creative Ireland and Cork City Council Arts Office
The Everyman has been running a dedicated engagement programme for young people since Spring 2021. The Everyman is working with YMCA Cork and with the support of the Abbey Theatre, Creative Ireland and Cork City Council Arts Office on a youth-led programme “Theatre-Making and Citizenship, Cork” where young people are introduced to theatre through conversation, engagement and creation.
Participants are supported to become theatre makers themselves as through the workshops they will explore writing, devising, designing, technical craft and performance as well as engaging with live theatre and performance.
At the heart of this project is the role of theatre and how young people can shape the future of accessible theatre in Ireland.
For more information on this project and other Education & Community activity, contact Maev O’Shea, Education & Community Manager | Creative Associate, The Everyman.
