GATMAN!
Written and performed by Tadhg Hickey
Directed by Sophie Motley
THU 29–FRI 31 AUG, 8PM
Live at The Everyman

Following the critical success of In One Eye, Out the Other (2019) and the remarkable run of performances in spring, Tadhg Hickey returns to The Everyman with his one-man play, GATMAN!.

“All was unreal in the state of Corkopia…”

1980s Batman comics get the Cork treatment in this zany new superhero comedy written and performed by Tadhg Hickey.

Murph is a down-and-out Corkman addicted to gat (booze). Trying desperately to get sobered up before a visit with his son Fionn, Murph traverses the eccentricities of Cork city as he takes on the great fight between alcoholism and recovery.

Meanwhile…

Welcome to Corkopia! The glorious technicolour wonderland of Murph’s alcohol-fuelled superhero alter-ego, Gatman. Gatman’s mission: to save his beloved, boozy city from the sobering shackles of Father Mathew – the temperance priest statue that has come to life.

“The play though, is not just a solemn look at the world of addiction, it is also quite lighthearted and full of witty observations” – Pádraig O’Connor, Tripe + Drisheen
